7.0/10

I had a good stay at Voco Oxford Spires. The location by the Thames was perfect, offering a peaceful retreat just a short walk from the city center. The breakfast was really good, packed with fresh options and a great variety. However, I found the room lighting to be poor and some furnishings could use an upgrade, which slightly detracted from the overall experience.

Rooms
6.0
My room was spacious and clean, but it felt outdated with poor lighting and some dull furnishings. It lacked the charm I expected from the images shared by the hotel.
Service
9.0
The staff were incredibly friendly and helpful. I appreciated their assistance with directions and retrieving a lost item. They really went the extra mile to make my stay comfortable.
Location
9.0
The hotel's location was ideal. It was set in a quiet area away from the bustle of the city, yet only a 15-minute scenic walk along the river to the center. Perfect for a leisurely exploration.
Dining
9.0
The breakfast exceeded my expectations with its wide range of choices, including fresh fruit and quality ingredients. The restaurant also served excellent dinner options, making dining a highlight of the stay.
Facilities
7.0
While I enjoyed the pool facilities for a relaxing experience, I did find the changing rooms a bit dated. Room service and other amenities were well managed.

6.2/10

My stay at Voco Oxford Spires was quite the mixed experience. The hotel is set in beautiful grounds and has a lovely location, making it easy to walk into Oxford, but the service and the value for money left something to be desired. While my room was comfortable, it didn’t live up to the price tag, and the dining options were decent but a bit too expensive for what they offered.

Rooms
6.0
I found the room comfortable, but it didn't feel special for the price. The view was lackluster, overlooking a car park, and it felt very bland overall.
Service
5.0
The reception staff were friendly, but I experienced delays during check-in and check-out that were frustrating.
Location
8.0
The location is fantastic, allowing for a pleasant walk to the city center along the river, which I really enjoyed while taking in the serene surroundings.
Dining
6.0
The breakfast had a great selection, but I found the prices to be quite high, particularly for what was offered. Dining was acceptable but not amazing.
Facilities
7.0
The swimming pool and spa facilities were nice but could use some updates. I found the pool a bit small when busy.

5.8/10

I had a pleasant stay at Voco Oxford Spires, although there were a few hiccups along the way. The hotel is ideally located for exploring Oxford with a charming riverside walk. The staff were friendly and mostly efficient, but I did notice some service inconsistencies, particularly in the dining area. Overall, while I enjoyed my visit, I found certain aspects could improve, especially regarding food service and pricing clarity.

Rooms
6.0
The room I stayed in was clean and well-furnished, but I found the bed a bit too soft for my liking. Additionally, my view wasn't great, but the overall ambiance was pleasant enough.
Service
6.0
The service from the staff was generally friendly and accommodating, but during busy times, I noticed delays, particularly in the bar area. Some tasks took longer than expected, like receiving cutlery for my lunch order.
Location
9.0
The location was excellent—just a short and lovely walk along the river to city center Oxford, which made exploring very easy and enjoyable.
Dining
7.0
While the food quality was good overall, I found the dessert lacking compared to the rest of the meal. The pricing seemed inconsistent too, which was a bit frustrating.
Facilities
7.0
The leisure facilities included a nice pool and spa area where I could relax. The public spaces were clean, although I felt the food service could be more organized to handle busy periods better.

7.2/10

My stay at Voco Oxford Spires was a mix of positives and a few frustrations. The location was fantastic, with easy access to the city center along the river. The staff was friendly and helpful, especially when I had an issue with my first room. On the downside, I found some of the facilities needing a bit more attention, particularly with the air quality in the rooms. Overall, I left feeling reasonably refreshed yet unsure about a return visit due to a few shortcomings.

Rooms
6.0
The initial room was quite small and stuffy, with a bathroom that had unpleasant odours. However, after raising the issue, I was moved to a lovely spacious suite that made for a comfortable stay. It had a super king bed and a much better bathroom.
Service
8.0
The check-in was smooth, and the staff was generally friendly and attentive. I appreciated their quick response to my room change request. Although some of the dining services felt a bit rushed, overall, the staff went above and beyond.
Location
9.0
The hotel's location along the river was idyllic. It only took a short walk to get into the heart of Oxford, making it easy to explore the city. I enjoyed being able to park my car at the hotel as well.
Dining
7.0
While the food was generally good and well presented, I found the dining area lacked character, feeling more like a conference room than a restaurant. Breakfast was hearty but could have been served hotter.
Facilities
6.0
I enjoyed the use of the pool and jacuzzi, and the complimentary towels were a nice touch. However, I found the absence of shower gel and shampoo in the locker rooms to be lacking. The pool area was meant to be adults-only, but there were children present.

I had a lovely stay overall, with some highlights being the cleanliness and friendly staff. However, the dining experience was a bit lacking, and I found the parking charges to be unexpected.

Rooms
9.0
My room was spacious, clean, and had a large bathroom. I enjoyed the comfy bed and appreciated the nice toiletries provided. The view from the balcony was beautiful, overlooking fields with horses.
Service
9.0
The staff were very friendly and accommodating, always willing to help. I felt well taken care of during my stay, especially by a staff member who gave me great tips on local attractions.
Location
9.0
The location was fantastic, just a 15-minute walk into the city centre. I appreciated the calm and quiet surroundings despite being near a busy road.
Dining
7.0
While the breakfast had plenty of options and was generally good, I did find the dining experience in the restaurant to be a bit uninspiring, and some of the dishes could have been warmer.
Facilities
7.0
The leisure centre was nice, although I felt it could be improved in terms of layout. The spa area was great, but I noticed some issues with the shower pressure which could be addressed.
